Can anyone inform me as to why the minutes of the Castle Bromwich Parish Council, take so very long to be published? I have been waiting since Ist of October for the minutes of the September 30th meeting. To all you folk who bemoan about your council tax payments, I am adding to the cost, by having them posted, as I am entitled to have, just as you are.
Why? Because they were not available to collect nine working days later.

This query should be put to the Parish council.

It's evident from all your other posts on Parish Coucil matters that the majority of Castle Bromwich residents couldn't care less what the Parish Council gets up to. All we know is that they cost us money. What we get for it other than Arden Hall I don't know.

Billy, thanks for replying. That in itself, gives me the will to carry on, bringing to the attention of everyone who pays council tax to be aware that your money could be being wasted.
1646 band D tax payers, contribute £53 plus, to the Castle Bromwich Parish Council, and couldnt care less where the money is being used.
£241,000 was used up in the last financial year, on what?
Please come to the Parish Copuncil meetings, on the last Wednesday of every month.
Observe the goings on, as I do.
Come out of the meeting, as puzzeled as you were when you went in.

Arden Hall must cost a fair bit to keep running and Bradford gardens, but surely they should be more or less self financing? The village green and Whateley Green just need their lawns mowing. Hobs Farm was going to sold until the residents kicked up a storm, it has very little money spent on it now and i suspect another attempt will be made to sell it.

    Found this on their website

"In Castle Bromwich the Parish Council :-

    * owns Arden Hall, Arden Hall playing fields and Sports Pavillion, Whateley Green, The Village Green and War Memorial, Bradford Gardens and Hob Farm open space and is responsible for their financing and management
    * comments on all planning applications in the parish - Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council then makes the final decision.
    * is the first tier of local government and can play a vital part in representing the interests of the Castle Bromwich community.

The Parish Council raises funds by adding a parish precept to the Council Tax but also receives an income by hiring out council owned amenities."

Surely that's sufficent reason not to waste your time going in the first place.

I have lived in Castle Bromwich for 27 years. I have never seen a Parish councillor at elections times, and wouldn't no one if I fell over them. I have better things to do than attend parish council meetings. Watching paint dry is one of them.

Sorry for the typo. Should read "wouldn't know one".

The very reason our council tax payments are so high, is that we have a "no caring" attitude towards those who would seek to represent our views.
Your Parish councilor,( all three of them) were never elected by the populace. They were co-opted on to the council, by their fellow councilors, in accordance with the "rules". These rules were set down by....the Parish council, and endorsed by Solihull Metro Council.
That, sir, is democracy, English style.
If you dont take part in the goings on of what is dominating your way of life, and your council tax payments....you have no reason to complain, or criticise.
All I seek, is a greater attendance to the Parish Council Meetings, so that the voice of the people who pay for it, can be heard

    In reply to "yoggie.
The Bradford Hall and Gardens are supported by,
    Birmingham City Council,
    The Hertiage Fund,
    Solihull MBC,
    Bovis Homes,
    Lord Bradford,
and a donation from the Castle Bromwich Parish Council Chairmans Charity Fund.
There are no concessions for residents of Castle Bromwich, unless you are a senior citizen, and then you have 50 pence deducted from the entrance fee.
    The financial report eludes me.
next stop, the freedom of information act I suppose.

Personally, Heatproof, I'm not too much bothered about the paltry sum of £53(£1.00/week) that the Parish Council costs me. However, I am bothered about the £1200+ per year I pay Solihull MBC.

The main reason we pay so much council tax is the Metropolitan Borough Council are forced to increase the tax every year higher than inflation due to Solihull getting less money from central Government per head than other MBCs in the country. In addition to that there is so much waste with far to many jobsworths being employed by SMBC along with people on non jobs. Council services need an overhaul from the top to bottom.

Bring back the Poll Tax I say, Let everyone pay for our council services not just the householder.
